2007 is opening on a good note in Malluwood. With Dileep in the lead ‘Inspector Garud’ has got a release all over the state. And in the 45 centres where the film has been released it has got a fantastic opening and an overwhelming response. Ever since its release, in the first three days itself the film has managed to garner 74 lakhs. For the producers its happy days ahead with this kind of business and the trade are already predicting something big now. The highpoint of the film is that it is a total entertainer packed with great moments. Dileep can be seen in the role of a police officer for the first time in his career. With such response the film will register as a big hit at the initial of the year.

When you go to see the Dileep-starrer Inspector Garud directed by Johny Antony, you'd expect another film like CID Moosa or Kochiraajaavu. And that is what Inspector Garud doesn't happen to be. For Dileep fans and for fans of Johny Antony (the director of such roaring hits as CID Moosa, Kochiraajaavu and Thuruppugulaan) the film is a disappointment. At the end of it, you feel all wasted and that justifies the booing that could be heard towards the end of the film on the first day itself.
