With her golden locks and blue eyes, she is considered to be one of the most beautiful actresses in the Bollywood, although her fiery style has earned her the title of a snob.
But all that doesn't bother Kareena Kapoor, who is among the top paid actresses. Grand daughter of the legendary Raj Kapoor, Kareena entered the tinsel town at a time when a lot of star kids were ready to take that big leap in a make or break career.
Kareena won all the major awards and accolades for her high- profile debut in "Refugee" in 2000. Though both her co-star Abhishek Bachchan and the film did not do well at the box office, Kareena managed a host of other films like "Ajnabee", "Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham" and "Yaadein".
She won rave reviews for her role as a streetwalker in "Chameli" and a riot victim in "Dev", films which have even encouraged her increase price to reportedly rupees 10.5 million.
Kareena says she is happy with her achievements and is open to all sort of characters that excite her. "Right from "Refugee" to "Chameli", "Dev", "Yuva", there's always been something different in whatever I've done. I want to attempt more different kind of roles. I am open to all sorts of characters so let's see how it goes. But I think I am very happy for the present. For just a 23-year-old I think I have achieved quite a bit," said Kareena in an interview in New Delhi on Sunday.
Though she does not have a single hit film at the box office to her credit, Kareena is still the hot property and the most sought after actress. Her latest film "Fida" has her paired opposite real-life sweetheart Shahid Kapoor, in an author-backed role of a temptress.
The film opened full houses on Friday and received decent reviews. Kareena says she is not interested in going west, at a time when most of the Indian actors are vying for a Hollywood project. "No....I am very much an Indian, I am proud to be an Indian and I want to be here all my life," said Kareena.
Kareena won the top awards for "Chameli", a love story of a prostitute and an investment banker.
Film magazines had reported that Kareena charged less than half of her fees for the role of prostitute in the film which was earlier rejected by a host of actresses.
"I did it because I thought the role was very challenging and it paid off for me. I got a number of awards for the film and I got fantastic reviews, so I think it paid off somewhere down the line. It did tab a talent in me which lot of people woke up to," said Kareena.
Kareena's latest films "Aetraaz", "Hulchul", "Bewafaa" and "Bajirao Mastani" will see her in different roles, right from that of a love-lorn woman, to a cheating wife to a courtesan. (ANI
