PostPosted: Tue Sep 14, 2004 5:21 pm    Post subject: Bipasha steps in Ash's shoes

Suneel Darshan had been planning to cast Aishwarya Rai for his forthcoming project BARSAAT, which co-stars Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra in stellar roles. In fact, Suneel had a couple of meetings with Ash with regards to the project [click here to read the story].

The latest is, Suneel has gone ahead and signed Bipasha Basu for the role in question. ?Yes, I am doing the film,? Bipasha tells me, ?Though Akshay and I were appreciated as a pair, it's rather strange that producers didn't cast us together after AJNABEE and AANKHEN [Bipasha had a song with Akshay in the film].?

But Bipasha is not perturbed by the fact that she was the second option. ?Seriously, such things don't bother me. If I won't do a project, someone else would. The film would still be made nonetheless... Nothing stops in the industry. Even if someone had been offered a role and isn't doing it for certain reasons and the producer approaches me next, it's perfectly okay with me. I have no ego hassles at all,? she smiles.

In fact, Bipasha has decided to play ?safe? henceforth. ?I've had enough of tailormade roles and carrying films on my shoulders. Yes, I did enjoy being a part of those films, but you do feel disheartened when the efforts go unnoticed,? the talented actress sounds dejected.

Please continue. ?When I entered the industry, I had fixed ideas about the kind of films I wanted to do. And I was lucky enough to get author-backed roles so early in my career. Roles like the ones in RAAZ, GUNAAH, JISM and RAKHT don't come knocking everyday. But what matters at the end of the day is how successful your films are at the box-office,? she states.

So, do we see Bipasha going on a signing spree? ?I would still exercise restraint. But, yes, I am now looking at signing films that Bollywood specializes in. I want to be a part of projects that star top names on and off screen. I want to play safe,? she admits honestly.
