This is Mohanlal new look for Bhadran directed Udayon, produced under the banner of Varnachitra by Subair. The film will start rolling from February.
Remember that it was the Bhadran-Mohanlal combination that churned out that blockbuster Spadikam. Who can forget Aadu Thoma, Mohanlals character in that action packed film set amidst Syrian Christian background and the famous Mudu Ooral Adi in the film?
In the Christian belt of Central Travancore area consisting of Kottayam, Pathananthitta and Idukki districts , Mohanlal is a big draw especially if her plays Achayan character.
In Udayon he plays a dual role of father and son which is about Kerala congress politics, Ganja cultivations, and liquor barons. The father character of Shooranadu Kunju, (see pic) is a self made feudal landlord, a sort of Godfather in the plantation area.
According to sources close to the superstar, he always wanted to play the role similar to Marlyn Brandos in Francis Ford Coppolas classic Godfather
