Meera receives National Award

Malayalam cinema�s top actress Meera Jasmine received The National Award from Dr A.P.J.Abdul Kalam for The Best Actress 2003, for her riveting performance as Shahina of Padom Onnu Oru Vilapam directed by T.V.Chandran.
Meera told Sify.com: �It is a dream come true for me and I am grateful to my mentors and the Lord. I think God has given me a fitting gift after going through some tumultuous times�.

Meera made it a point to look like a typical Kerala girl and wore a Kasavu Pavadai-blouse with jasmine flowers on her hair. She was the centre of attraction at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi where the function was held. All the big names in Indian cinema especially the noted director Mrinal Sen who received the Dada Saheb Phalke Award took time to chat with her and pose for photographs.
