It is better for scriptwriter Siddique who has given us some of the best comedy-family entertainers and Jayaram a very flexible actor to stick to humour and not dabble in investigative stories like Finger Print which does not suit their image.
Siddique has written this investigative police story directed by his assistant Satish Paul, which looks like a tacky Television serial that leaves you cold. Siddique has to take the blame as his script goes totally haywire and predictable and Satishs direction has a documentary touch about it.
The story happens in a palace (Are there such palaces, Kings and Queens in Kerala?) The eldest son of the Highness (Nedumudi Venu) gets murdered at his guest house. The Kerala Police asks Vivek Shankar(Jayaram) and Kishore Varma (Indrajeet) nephews of the King to investigate the murder!!
Both are police officers are in love with the princess Preetu (Gopika) and they take it as a challenge to find the killer as the guy who is successful in the mission gets her!! Some typical suspects are thrown in for confusing the audience and the story reached no where till Vivek finds the real murderer after some fake twists and turns!! But alas, nobody is arrested!!
Jayaram looks stiff and uncomfortable as Vivek, while Indrajeet is too loud. Gopika looks lost, Nedumudi Venu looks like a caricature and the rest of the suspects are mechanical. The entire film seems to have been shot in one single location and lacks any production values. Siddique and director Satish are just not able to provide the sufficient thrills associated with a murder mystery. Finger Print fails to entertain and offers little in the way of surprise.
Verdict: Disappointing
