Eminent music composer Raveendran passed away at Chennai on Thursday.He was 62. The end came at 1615 hrs at Apollo Hospital.

Raveendran, who was born on November 9, 1943 at Kulathooppuzha in Kollam district is a product of the Thiruvananthapuram Swathi Thirunal Music College. He worked as an assistant to leading music directors of yesteryears before graduating into the top league. He worked as a dubbing artist also.

Choola (1979) was his maiden venture as an independant music composer and there was no looking for him. Raveendran was termed as the Man with the Midas Touch since all songs composed by him were instant hits. In an era when only fast music sell, Raveendran turned the tide in his favour with songs composed in classical style.

It is difficult to select the best song composed by him since all the songs by Raveendran are unique in one way or the other. Raveendran bagged the National Award with his songs in the film BHARATHAM.

Ezhuswarangalum.. Ottakkambi... Thenum Vayambum...Harimuraleeravam are some of his all time greats.

Raveendran is survived by wife Shobhana and three children. Malayalam film industry loses a great music composer whose best was yet to come.
