S. J. SURYAH'S HOLD over the Tamil box-office is simply amazing. Four years after the release of "Kushi", a blockbuster, the director has turned hero with "New". The film has taken a fantastic opening all over Tamil Nadu to the surprise of the trade, as two months back, its bilingual in Telugu ("Naani") went without a trace. This in fact created distribution problems for "New", and later, the regional censor board also effected major visual and dialogue cuts. But Surya was optimistic and went ahead to release the film in 117 screens in Tamil Nadu where the opening day collection crossed Rs. 1 crore! Said Surya: "`New' is turning out to be a mega hit and the very same industry pundits who had written off the film before its release are saying that it will do better business than `Ghillli'

This movei had created a lot of controversies. Kore kalamayi stills irangiyittu. Innu keralathil motham van idiyanathre ticketinu. Mallusinte oru karyam. Kurachu mumbu irangiya hindi films pole anennu karuthi anu alkar idichu kayarunnathu ( murder, girl friend etc). According to my friends in chennai, avide lot of families pokunnundu. Pakshe ivide muzhuvanum shakkeela fans thanne. Avarude koode kayariyal maanam pokum.

it is not that vulgar.this film is not just about sex.it mainly deals with motherhood.sj suryah wanted to say something abt india's population(athenthanennu njan parayunnilla),then normal guy's nature...
he just wanted to create an entertainer.and it really is one.
i'm gonna watch it one more time for the way in which the songs are shot.

'New' njan kandilla, pakshe review vayichappol it was jus like an old tom hanks movie. hanks as a kid at the age of eight turns 28 when he attends a carnival, and later he finds a job in the toy manufacturing company. Though he is 28, with his mind as a kid he invents good toys for the company which da kids like more. The president of the company likes his ideas and story goes on. i dont want to tell the climax so that it will mess up people who wants to see the surya movie new. neways I think there will be changes in surya movie frm the hollywood one. i think the tom hanks movie was called BURBS or so. i dont remember da name but that movie was good and a top hit in hollywood.

new is actually inspired by tom hanks starrer "BIG".but it is a completely different story.
