The shooting of Kamal's latest film Raapakal is fast progressing in Ottappalam. Kamal who made female oriented films like Manjupole Oru Penkutty and Perumazhakalam has decided to change tracks and this time thought of casting Mammootty, the superstar of Malayalam.

In this film, Mammootty plays a loyal servant, Krishnan to the Eshwaramangalam Tharavadu. He is all in all to the inmates of the tharavadu. He is like a son to Saraswathy Amma played by yesteryear actress Sharada.

Two heroines of the film, Nayantara and Geetu play Gauri and Malavika. The film also has Balachandra Menon, Vijayaraghavan, Suresh Krishna, Salim Kumar, Balachandran Chullikkadu, Thara Kalyan, Janardhanan and many others.

Raapakal is scripted by T A Razak. Songs penned by Kaithapram has music composed by Mohan Sithara. The film produced by Howly Potter under the banner of Dream Team Productions will be brought to the theatres by Swargachithra

Nayantara adorns a new avataar in her next film. The actress plays a completely deglamourised role - that of a servant girl in the Mammootty-starrer Raapagal (athelle avalke kooduthal cherunne?).

In Raapakal Nayantara plays a maid called Malavika. She is sans all make-up in the film and has to wear old clothes. According to the actress, it is a perfomance oriented role which has given her immense satisfaction.

In the film she has had to sweep floors, feed cows and play maid to Geetu Mohandas and Maheswari.
