Rajiv Rai's latest offering ASAMBHAV is akin to an acid test for all concerned. For Rajiv, whose last film PYAAR ISHQ AUR MOHABBAT was a box-office dud, the success of ASAMBHAV is more than crucial. This former assistant of Yash Chopra, who has delivered hits in TRIDEV, MOHRA and GUPT, has to prove once again that he is a name to reckon with.
For Arjun Rampal, Rajiv's discovery, ASAMBHAV is akin to an examination of sorts. His future as a solo hero depends largely on how this film fares at the ticket window. He may have won praise for his work in PYAAR ISHQ AUR MOHABBAT and TEHZEEB, but a hit is what matters eventually in an industry driven by arithmetic.
Incidentally, ASAMBHAV teams the lucky combo of Naseeruddin Shah and Rajiv Rai, who have delivered hits in TRIDEV and MOHRA together. Let's await the response to this combo's new venture this Friday!
